Science

Grade 9

The Science course for Grade 9 students is de-streamed. Students will move on to academic or applied for Grade 10.

Regardless of their post-secondary destination, science literacy skills are employability skills.

• Students considering careers requiring a university degree should choose:
• Grade 10 Academic Science
• Grades 11 and 12 Science for university bound students

• Students planning to go to college or the workplace should choose:

  • Grade 10 Applied Science
  • Followed by Science courses for college or the workplace

Academic

The science in the Academic program is less applied, more theoretical in nature, and designed for students who plan to go on to university and study Mathematics, Science, Engineering or related disciplines.

Applied

The science in the Applied program is of a practical nature, and designed for students who plan to go to college as a technician or follow a trade or develop skills and information in the everyday use of science.
